Beech WOOD with FUNGI Texture, Extraclear FROSTED RESIN, Burnished STEEL Base.
The Fungi Inclined Stool is crafted from a single wooden plank, delicately split into two inclined parts with a fine blade. What once was whole is now divided — yet held together by a central cast of translucent resin, evoking the invisible current of time.
This wood bears the subtle imprint of fungal life. In the final stages of a tree’s life cycle, specialized fungi begin to break down the dense lignin, marking the wood with unpredictable veining, textures, and pigment lines. These signs are not flaws, but nature’s intimate calligraphy — a dialogue between life and decay.
Fungi live in the air, dormant until the right conditions awaken them. Their growth is a singular alchemy of time, place, and climate, making each piece utterly unique. alcarol captures this unrepeatable instant, preserving not just the form, but the process — a fragile balance between disintegration and design.
The result is an object that defies gravity and expectation: not just a seat or table, but a fragment of nature’s slow transformation, suspended.
