Created by Andrea Forti and Eleonora Dal Farra, alcarol listens to matter — merging innovation and craft to translate the fleeting breath of nature into timeless presence.
Rooted between the Venice Lagoon and the Dolomite UNESCO World Heritage mountains, alcarol captures the atmospheres of these contrasting lands — often freezing time at the end of a material’s life cycle to grant it a new one.
Between experimentation and tradition, alcarol explores the silent narratives inscribed within natural materials — where time, environment, and transformation intertwine.
Every surface bears the marks of its encounters with air, water, light, and other elements: traces that reveal a specific Genius Loci, the spirit that inhabits each place.
In classical mythology, the Genius Loci was a guardian presence, shaping the atmosphere and essence of the landscape.
Today, alcarol seeks to make that spirit visible, preserving the soul of environments within contemporary forms.
Through its environmental sections, alcarol unveils unusual and hidden aspects of the world — revealing what ordinarily remains unseen.
Inside the materials, veins, cavities, and subtle marks of time and elements disclose an intimate and truthful story, where the landscape becomes both memory and matter.
Often choosing ordinary materials — humble woods, stones, and fragments that might seem insignificant — alcarol exposes their extraordinary character.
By framing these overlooked details, each piece becomes an invitation to observe more closely, to rediscover the wonder concealed within the everyday.
Through an experimental process employing transparent substances reminiscent of frozen water, alcarol preserves the organic skin of matter — complete with its native mosses, lichens, and other traces of place — while the sectioned planes remain uncovered, allowing direct tactile and visual contact with the material’s inner layers — the hidden landscape usually unseen by the eye.
By sectioning and recontextualizing materials, alcarol unveils unseen dimensions of nature — cross-sections that transcend the ordinary perception of a place.
Through touch, sight, and scent, these fragments invite us to perceive the world anew, awakening a deeper awareness of nature’s fragile and enduring presence.
ANDREA FORTI
Born among the Dolomite mountains, Andrea Forti grew up surrounded by the raw poetry of stone, wood, and silence. Later, graduating in Architecture in Venice — a city suspended between land and water, and founded upon the timber of his mountains — he refined his architectural vision.
As an artist and sculptor, Andrea also explored the expressive potential of matter through form and transformation. With alcarol, he discovered a new language — born from contemplation rather than intervention. Guided by a profound sense of wonder and respect, he no longer shapes or alters materials, but studies and preserves them — revealing their inner memory and the silent story of their origin.
His work celebrates the raw identity of matter: wood, stone, and other elemental substances retain their natural voices, revealing what is usually unseen. Through alcarol, Andrea translates his fascination for the landscapes that formed him — transforming fragments of place into objects that embody both origin and transformation.
ELEONORA DAL FARRA
Born in the Dolomite mountains and educated in Venice, Eleonora Dal Farra merges the disciplines of artistic restoration and contemporary experimentation. After graduating from the Academy of Fine Arts and later in Artistic Restoration, she deepened her understanding of color, matter, and perception through artistic productions and collaborations, as well as restoration on ancient Italian works and the Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale. Her work has always been guided by a deep curiosity for the dialogue between natural processes and human craftsmanship.
Her approach bridges the care of preservation with the freedom of creation. In her hands, conservation becomes a poetic act — not to arrest time, but to honor its traces.
Through alcarol, Eleonora channels her sensitivity for textures, patinas, and the silent dialogues between nature and decay. By merging restoration and conservation techniques with experimental processes, she unveils the living essence within materials — preserving their spirit in a moment of suspended time.
What emerges from thirteen years of research, experimentation, and contemplation is more than design — a dialogue between matter and time, where nature finds its voice in stillness.
